BURNOUT Recovery

We often come across burnout, be it learning a new skill, playing sports or video games, etc. The cause can be many like long working hours, low job control, high self-expectations, setting unrealistic goals, etc. In my opinion, one of the prominent reasons for burnout can be due to the Dunning-Kruger effect. You can better understand this with the help of the picture below.

In my opinion, this picture is self-explanatory and most of the lies in the average category this is the place where many people face burnout and eventually give up.

But you shouldn't worry as I will provide you with a few of the best and most practical ways in order to overcome burnout:-

1-Short-break:- Take little breaks in the middle of the work. Just do anything you like, go out watch the sunset, play video games (my favorite), have a cup of tea, play cricket, listen to your favorite music, or play some instrument, etc. Just make sure you are doing something for a short period which helps in stress release. You can try to apply the Pomodoro technique.

2-Self-care:- You should make sure that you keep up with these three things physical, emotional, and mental health. These three things are essential in building up us as humans. For your physical health, you can hit the gym to do some cardio, play your favorite sport, or go out for a short walk or running, if you have a pet then you can take them as well.

For your emotional support, you must always reach out to someone who cares the most. Personally, when I feel stressed or burnout I call my friends and parents and I feel nice. Similarly, you can have a small chit-chat with your friends and loved ones. This will make you feel well and stressed out.

For your mental health, you can try meditation, and practice gratitude, and most definitely you should follow the above.

3-Prioritize-time:- Many people often feel burnout and experience stress because they do not have a clue about what to do, I mean they know what work they should be doing but they don't know what time they should allocate to each task or what task should be executed first. In simple terms, we can say that they lack time table

Not having a proper timetable can lead to clumsiness in work which will lead to stress, ultimately reaching burnout position.

To avoid it, you should have a proper dedicated timetable

You should give priority to the task that should be executed first and how much practical or actual time you can dedicate to it.

4-Take small steps:- “Rome was not built in a day”, you should apply the same to yourself as well. Often many people give up their current task because they get stuck or they feel bored. This is due to setting up an unrealistic goal, remember you might understand the basics of a new programming language in a day but you won't be able to master it without practice.

Thus you should not jump onto something with the expectation of making big in a day instead you can break down your goal into small parts by which you will be able to allocate proper time to it and also you won't feel exhausted. In the end, you will finally be able to achieve your desired goal.

5-Purpose:- At the very end, at rock bottom when you feel like giving up you should always remember why you started. Most people are aimless with what are they doing ut you shouldn't be like them, instead you should always keep in mind the purpose behind your goals, this will act as a motivator or fuel to your current work.

CONCLUSION

In the end, you should never forget that you will face burnout in every situation, which is unavoidable but your only job will be to reduce it, you are free to try out the techniques mentioned in this blog or you can make your own way.
